Airbus, Defence NSW to hold virtual briefing

Airbus will hold a NSW Virtual Industry Briefing on Monday 19 October 1800-1845. The briefing will provide an opportunity to hear about how NSW businesses can help support future space, defence and communications programs in Australia.

The event is open to industry, academia, start-ups and defence and space related SMEs.

During this briefing Air will outline its current space pursuits with particular focus on JP9102, also known as the Australia Defence SATCOM System (ADSS). Defence will release an RFT later this year with responses due in the second quarter of 2021. The briefing will provide an introduction to key Airbus personnel and a high-level overview of the project and technology areas in which Airbus is seeking expressions of interest.

Airbus is interested in six projects:

  • JP9102 – ADSS
  • DEF799 – Enhanced Satellite ISR Capability
  • FMSC – Future Maritime Surveillance capability
  • Zephyr – High Altitude Pseudo-satellite
  • EMAC – Enhanced maritime Awareness Capability NZ

To pursue and deliver these projects, Airbus is seeking Australian companies with capabilities in:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Electronics/Electrical Engineering
  • Antenna Design and Manufacturing
  • Mobile Terminals
  • Electrical Harness
  • Software Development
  • Payload development
  • Ground Infrastructure
