AVI wins $1.87M Defence Innovation Hub contract
Perth-based AVI Pty Limited has been awarded a $1.87 million Defence Innovation Hub contract to develop a means of combining data from across multiple communications networks for the Army. This is designed to help Australian troops share information more effectively when deployed.
“AVI has a strong record of designing, developing and building specialised communications solutions for harsh, remote environments,” said Minister for Defence Industry, Melissa Price. “This Australian technology has passed the test under the harsh conditions of the Australian outback and has potentially significant benefits for the situational awareness of our soldiers in the field.”
Federal Member for Tangney Ben Morton said it was an example of the opportunities available for WA businesses in Australia’s defence industry.
“This funding is helping small businesses to improve Defence capability and grow jobs for local companies like AVI. The Morrison Government’s record investment in defence industry is also supporting Australian manufacturing, which is more innovative and capable than it has ever been.”
