Defence and CSIRO are calling for applications to participate in D.Start, an innovation and entrepreneurship program designed to help Australian researchers and SMEs better connect with Defence. DST will be holding an information webinar on Tuesday, August 18th from 2-3 PM (AEST) for interested teams and those seeking more information.

D.Start is an eight-week hands-on learning experience for research teams of two to five members, working on projects with the potential to shape Australia’s security or give the ADF an edge. D.Start will help SMEs and researchers identify real-world applications for their science or technology and attract the resources they need to translate it to operational capability. It is modelled on CSIRO’s highly successful ON Prime:Defence program and combines expert knowledge with powerful connections to increase opportunity for translation.

The program is open to Australian businesses, research organisations (including PFRAs) and their teams working on science or technology for Defence applications.

Teams can apply at any stage of their project and in any discipline. DST is particularly interested in teams that have yet to explore Defence as a potential customer or are keen to explore new pathways for commercialisation.
