EDTAS to address Remote Undersea Surveillance

DST Group’s next Emerging Disruptive Technology Assessment Symposium (EDTAS) will focus on Remote Undersea Surveillance (RUS). Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this symposium will be held as a virtual activity.

The event is invitation only and will be held 11-12 May 2021 from 9am – 4pm AEST.

EDTAS will include short presentations, syndicate workshops and keynote speeches from leaders in the field.

The following themes will be explored:

  • Environmental Observation
  • Communications
  • Sensor Networks
  • Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT)
  • Logistics

Defence’s 2020 Defence Strategic Update and Force Structure Plan outlined an investment of $3-$4.5 billion in Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems.

Remote Undersea Surveillance is one of DSTG’s Science, Technology and Research (STaR) Shots. These are challenging, inspirational and aspirational S&T missions that align strategic research to force structure priorities, and as this symposium’s topic, a great opportunity to delve into the Remote Undersea Environment with respected academic and industry minds.

EDTAS is brought to you by Defence Science and Technology Group and Noetic Group.

Enquires can be directed to edtas@dst.defence.gov.au or dstevents@dst.defence.gov.au.
