The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of the 2021 Avalon air show, which had been scheduled for late-November and early December this year. The organiser, AMDA Foundation Limited, has also confirmed that the Avalon 2021 Innovation Awards and Innovation Pitchfest have also been cancelled.
These programs will resume when the AMDA Foundation runs its next event, the Indo Pacific International Maritime Expo in Sydney, 10-12 May.
“The pandemic has already required the AVALON organising team to work through many past challenges in respect of the 2021 event, including postponement from its original planned dates,” said Avalon 2021 CEO Ian Honnery. “However, recent developments as a consequence of the COVID-19 Delta strain have highlighted that the environment has become more unpredictable.
“Delivering such a highly complex, hallmark event in these challenging circumstances would involve risks of uncertainty for attendees, participants, industry and the Australian public.”
The AMDA Foundation has prioritised public health and safety, he added. The Foundation is now planning for AVALON 2023 . However, it has a full program planned for 2022 including the Indo Pacific Expo, Rotortech in June, and Land Forces 2022 in Brisbane.
